Amanda Jensen would like to move the Leadville Farmers’ Market to the courthouse lawn and parking lot for next summer.

Jensen, the owner/operator of the market, is also hoping to move the market from Saturdays to Thursday afternoons, she told the Lake County Commissioners at their regular meeting on Sept. 17.

Her preliminary plan right now would be to have the market run from 2-7 p.m. each Thursday from July 18 to Sept. 5, which would add two additional weekends next summer, she said.

Jensen hopes to move the market to Thursdays because of the volume of events that occur on the weekends in Leadville during the summer, she told the commissioners.

Commissioner Mike Bordogna expressed some concern about the time. He noted that the parking lot was one of the few places for people with business with the county to park. Having the parking lot closed off for several hours during county business hours on a frequent basis could be an issue, he said.

The commissioners asked Jensen to go through the application process for getting a permit for temporary use of county property.
