The summer race season gets underway this coming weekend with two hometown races that benefit the Leadville/Lake County Sports Hall of Fame.

On Saturday is the Turquoise Lake 20K.

This race will take runners clockwise around Turquoise Lake. The first 6.5 miles of the race consist of hilly paved road. The final 5.5 miles consist of single-track dirt trail.

Race starts at 9 a.m. at the Matchless Boat Ramp. Price is $30

The Fish Hatchery 5K takes place Sunday at the Leadville National Fish Hatchery. It features a scenic cross-country style course that winds through sub-alpine forest on dirt road and trail near the Evergreen Lakes and lower Rock Creek area.

Race starts at 8:30 a.m.

Proceeds benefit youth athletics and recreation. Cost is $25 for adults. Kids under 17 are free. Race-day registration takes place between 7 and 8 a.m.
