The body found in the Half Moon Creek area on Sept. 11 has been identified as that of Paul Runey.
Runey’s body was found about three-quarters of a mile from where he was camping, according to a press release from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating to determine how Runey’s body ended up this far from his campsite.
Lake County Coroner Shannon Kent determined that the cause of death was drowning, the release said.
Runey was 30 and from Massachusetts. His body was found by another camper whose dog discovered the remains.
