| 4/16/2009 3:45:00 PM | Email this article Print this article | Training class offered duathlon, triathlon novices A class is being offered through Lake County Recreation for novice or beginners who want to train for a sprint distance triathlon or duathlon.
Participants will work out together while learning what they need to know to have fun and have a successful experience in their first or next triathlon.
The class will meet once a week for seven weeks. A training schedule to follow between classes will be provided to each member of the class.
Many of the workouts will be held on the actual course of the "Tri-It-High" Sprint Triathlon and "Du-It-High" Duathlon. Classes will be held on Saturdays from 10-11 a.m. at the Lake County Aquatic Center, May 9- June 20. Cost of this class is only $50 per person for the full seven-week class or $10 for each individual class.
A few of the areas covered in the class will be open water and pool swimming, cycling, transition from swim to bike and bike to run, running, and actually participating in a trial triathlon. Call for a more detailed course description. The instructor is Matt Erbele who did his first triathlon in 1999 and has since completed 12 Ironman triathlons and many shorter-distance triathlons. Erbele began coaching in 2003 and has helped numerous triathletes achieve their athletic dreams. He enjoys working with beginners and looks forward to helping all participants have an enjoyable first race.
