Michael A. Sanchez, 52, of Leadville since 1993, passed away on May 6 in Leadville.
He was born on Jan. 9, 1967, in Embudo, N.M. to Pablo and Nora Vigil. He married Amy Cruz-Sanchez on Sept. 21, 2002 in Raton, N.M.
Sanchez worked as the lead transportation coordinator at Vail Health for 13 years and was the Lake County assistant basketball coach for four years. He had many things he enjoyed, including spending time with his family, basketball, softball, fishing, camping, video games and watching his favorite shows on the television.
Sanchez is survived by his wife Amy Cruz-Sanchez of Leadville; daughters Ciara Cruz and Lekisha Sanchez; sons Joshua Sanchez and Jordan Sanchez; father Pablo Vigil; sisters Veronica Sandoval and Paula Vigil; brother Ray Vigil; godson Kaydon Cruz and numerous extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Fidencio and Fermilia Sanchez; mother Nora Vigil and brother Joe Eddie Sanchez.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 18 at 2:30 p.m. at the Sixth Street Gym, 124 E. Sixth Street in Leadville.
A reception will be held following the Celebration of Life at the Leadville Elks Lodge, #236. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
