Guest Column Mayor explains city’s view on IGA and more

Posted: Wednesday, October 3, 2012 2:59 pm

I want to take this opportunity to update our community on city business. Recently, city council voted to terminate the intergovernmental agreement with the county building department.

Several workshops were held in an attempt to update the IGA before it was terminated. The city’s main concerns centered on the assumption of liability by the city for decisions made by the building department, the qualifications of the building department supervisor, itemization of bills to the city and specifying what situations constituted additional services the city would be responsible for paying.
