Police need to restore confidence

Posted: Wednesday, October 3, 2012 3:03 pm

What do you do when you live in a town where you have no confidence in your police department? Every citizen I talk to has little or no confidence in our officers. What happened to “protect and serve”? Where is the common sense and courtesy that used to be a cornerstone of trust between us and our officers? Officers, once, assisted the public. Now our officers spend their days creating revenue for the department by writing tickets.

School is back and our officers are in full force. My wife, while taking our kids to school, stopped at a stop sign, only to be pulled over. The officer said she did not stop for long enough. Colorado state law does not specify a time frame for a complete stop. The law states that a vehicle must come to a complete stop and then proceed when clear.
