The annual Spiral Drive Run will take place in Salida on Saturday April 20 at 9 a.m.
The four-mile run course is challenging and scenic. Runners will climb two miles and over 500 vertical feet up Salida’s iconic Tenderfoot “S” Mountain on a dirt road, before looping the summit and returning down to the start.
All finishers receive a special commemorative award. The first place male and female finishers will receive an award from Altra Running, and the first place female and male Salida residents will also receive awards.
The nonprofit run is put on by the Chaffee County Running Club as part of its mission to promote running for health, fitness and competition for runners of all ages and abilities.
The run is limited to 100 participants, and early registration is encouraged. The $14 registration fee ($9 for Running Club members) increases after April 7.
While all county roads and Spiral Drive will remain open to all other users, the Running Club advises the public to be aware that these areas will be busy with runners from 9 -10:20 a.m.
Visit chaffeerunning.org to register and for more information. Registration is also available at 7000 feet Running Company in Salida.
