The Lake County High School volleyball team is headed to the regional tournament.
The Panthers beat Basalt High School on the road last Tuesday. “That was our biggest, most important game of the year,” coach Sean Sprague told the Herald.
LCHS won the first set 25-20, lost the second and third sets 23-25 and 21-25 and won the fourth set 25-19. Senior MacKenzie Martin earned the set-winning kill to send the Panthers into a fifth set, which they won 15-13.
Junior Kaytlin Sprague tallied 28 kills in the Panthers’ victory. Sprague finished regular season play last week with the most kills and aces in the Frontier League.
On Saturday, LCHS lost to Del Norte High School 3-1. After taking an early lead, the Panthers ended up losing the first set 21-25. LCHS then lost the second set 13-25, won the third set 25-23 and lost the fourth set 22-25.
