Team riders for Leadville Racing, Lake County High School’s mountain bike team, traveled to Cortez to participate in the 12 Hours of Mesa Verde race.
This is a relay race where teammates take turns rounding laps on the iconic Phil’s World Trail. Three teams — two women’s high school teams and one men’s duo team — took part.
The women’s team of Adele Horning, Rose Horning, Susie Bullock and Nina Villafranco finished in third, while the team of Amara Olsen, Avery Milne, Willow O’Hare and Emily Charles finished eleventh. The men’s team of Josiah Horning and Logan Charles finished in seventh place racing in the open field against older male riders.
