The Lake County Community Fund invites Coloradans to support efforts to expand the capacity of local organizations, promote and facilitate giving opportunities, and inspire investment in Lake County by donating on Colorado Gives Day, Dec.7.

Presented by Community First Foundation and FirstBank, Colorado Gives Day is an annual statewide movement to celebrate and increase philanthropy through online giving. The event is powered by ColoradoGives.org, a year-round online giving platform. Donors can easily search for profiles on the site and make safe and secure donations.

The Lake County Community Fund (LCCF) is a member of Lake County Gives, a coalition of more than 20 Lake County organizations dedicated to strengthening the collaboration, fundraising capacity and awareness of the nonprofit sector that enhances the quality of life in Lake County.

Participating Lake County organizations this year include: Full Circle of Lake County, the Leadville Trail 100 Legacy Foundation, the Advocates of Lake County, the National Mining Hall of Fame and Museum (including the museum’s endowment campaign and kids’ interactive exhibit), LCCF, the Tabor Opera House Preservation Foundation, Cloud City Conservation Center, Lake County Open Space Initiative, Cloud City Wheelers, the Friends of Twin Lakes, St. George Episcopal Church, Lake County Build a Generation, the Healy House and Dexter Cabin, Rocky Mountain Center for Preservation, Support for Preservation Workshops, Leadville Irish Miners’ Memorial, the Lake County Disaster Relief Fund, Get Outdoors Leadville!, PB Swims and St. Vincent Health Foundation.

“Colorado Gives Day is one of our most important fundraisers of the year. Donations help us do more to support the community and ensure that Lake County has an abundance of sustainable philanthropic resources to support a thriving community,” said John McMurtry, executive director of LCCF. “Our goal is to get a share of the $1.6 Million Incentive Fund.”

This year’s $1.6 Million Incentive Fund is made possible by Community First Foundation, FirstBank and other Colorado community members. It increases the power of donations proportionally and is one of the largest in the country. If a nonprofit organization participating in Colorado Gives Day receives 10 percent of the total money raised, that same nonprofit receives 10 percent of the $1.6 Million Incentive Fund.

Lake County Gives serves as the platform for donors to learn about participating local nonprofits and make online donations to those nonprofits on Colorado Gives Day and throughout the year.

Visit Lake County Gives on the ColoradoGives.org website to learn about Lake County programs, how organizations are helping the community and how to donate online. To visit the page, enter Lake County Gives in the website’s search field or visit coloradogives.org/LakeCountyGives.

Community First Foundation, a foundation dedicated to fueling the power of community to drive positive change, and FirstBank, Colorado’s largest locally owned bank, have partnered to present Colorado Gives Day for the past nine years. By making fundraising simple for nonprofits and giving easy for donors, it is one the most successful events of its kind in the nation. Last year, $50 million was raised for Colorado nonprofits in just 24 hours. More than $419 million has been donated between 2007 and 2020.
