The following information was provided by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO): 

— On August 23, deputies responded to a report of a truck hitting a power pole. It was discovered that an excavator hit a power line, breaking the power pole and tearing the electrical from homes. 

— On August 24, deputies assisted the Leadville Police Department with an intoxicated person. The person was transported to St. Vincent Hospital. 

— On August 26, a deputy issued a citation to Landon Mentink for possession of burglary tools. 

— On August 27, a female reported that her dog had been shot near Windsor Lake. The woman was unable to provide information on the suspect. 

— On August 28, deputies arrested Andrew Gallegos, 36, of Leadville for multiple warrants, including a felony warrant out of Lake County. 

— On August 28, deputies assisted the Leadville Police Department in a traffic stop on Poplar Street. Juan Garcia, 39, of Dillon was arrested. 

— On August 29, deputies responded to a vehicle accident near the junction of U.S. 24 and Colo. 91. Jose Amaya Hernandez, 30, was arrested for operating a motor vehicle without a license, failure to drive in a single lane and DUI. 

— On August 29, deputies received a report of theft of wood from a local residence. 

Individuals charged with a crime are considered to be innocent until they plead or are found guilty.
