Billie Adkins

Billie Adkins, age 89, of Springdale, Arkansas died Saturday, October 24, peacefully at his home, with his family around him. Adkins was born August 18, 1931 in Midkiff, West Virginia to Bernie and Isabelle Yeager Adkins.

Adkins served eight years in the United States Air Force. He spent 22 years at the Climax Molybdenum Mine followed by work for PCL Construction. He worked as a greeter for 28 years at Springdale Wal Mart and Sam’s Wholesale and became a big part of the community.

Adkins loved sports, outdoors and the mountains. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He played and coached bowling, softball and supported the ski team. According to his family, he loved his Lord and good old gospel singing. He will be greatly missed by many, his family said.

Adkins is preceded in death by his parents; son Bernie Lynn Adkins; and siblings Chester, Mildred, Mabel, Herman, Philip, Mauna, Myrtle, Myrl, Nathan, Bobby and Lonnie.

Adkins is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Eula Faye Rochelle Adkins; daughter Brenda Gail Clinton and husband Rocky; grandchildren Jacob (Adriel) Adkins, Janna Pittman, Joseph Adkins  and Tiffany (Brandon) Jetton; greatgrandchildren Madison, Connor, Hunter, Brooklyn, Ashlyn and Tobin; sisters Naomi Thacker, Maxine Wilkins and Wilma English; and many nieces and nephews, and adopted kids and grandkids he loved.

A service was held on Friday, Oct. 30, at Springdale First Assembly.
