Yolanda Jeanette LaCome

Yolanda Jeanette LaCome, of Leadville, passed away on January 12. She was born on Nov. 14, 1985.

LaCome grew up in Leadville with many family and friends. During her high school years, LaCome enjoyed cheerleading, softball and having fun with friends. She graduated from Lake County High School in 2004.

According to her family, LaCome’s passion were her two beautiful kids, camping, fishing, spending time with her family, music and dancing.

Her family will always remember her practical jokes, her love of hugs and her loyalty to everyone she loved. They will never forget her favorite color — purple, her love of movies from the 1980s, her smile and her favorite team — the Oakland Raiders.

“You can take the girl out of the mountain, but you can’t take the mountain out of the girl,” she would say. “Yeah, buddy!”

LaCome is survived by her children Jaylene and Diego Medina; grandparents Joe and Lucy Jaramillo of El Rito, New Mexico; parents Michael and Joyce LaCome of Leadville; sister Crystal (Zade) Marshall; niece Aaliyah Marshall; nephew Jeremiah Gonzales of Colorado Springs; brother Joshua LaCome (Justine Millington) of Leadville; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at Cornerstone Church, 117 East Sixth Street in Leadville, on Saturday Feb. 13 at 1 p.m. A family visitation will take place beforehand from 11 a.m. to noon. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, participation will be limited to small numbers.

A reception will be held directly after the celebration of life at the Elks Lodge, 123 West Fifth Street in Leadville.
