Letitia M. Young

Letitia M. Young, 97, of Albrightsville, Pennsylvania, and formerly of Vincentown, New Jersey and Leadville, passed away April 9 at the Pleasant Valley Manor in Hamilton Township, Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania.

Young was born in Philadelphia on April 25, 1923, to the late Joseph J. and Lottie (Boyer) Watt. She later became the wife of the late Edward G. Young, who passed away on September 20, 1995.

Young worked on the assembly line for the former Hollingshead Chemical Company in Camden, New Jersey for 25 years until retiring in 1979.  She was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Mt. Pocono, Pennsylvania.

“We have been blessed with the presence of Letitia in our lives,” her family said.

In addition to her husband Edward, Young was preceded in death by her son Gerald Rocks; her daughter-in-law Lola Rocks; her stepdaughters Dolly Herold and Petey (Fred) Hunter; her sons-in-law Donald Thoren and Edward Nelson; her grandchildren Kim Hunter and James Rocks; and her brothers  Harry Watt, Albert Watt and Robert Watt.

Young is survived by her daughter Maryellen Thoren of Albrightsville and Leadville; her son George Rocks of Albrightsville; her stepdaughter Dottie Mae Nelson of Vincentown; her grandchildren Donald, Douglas, Gerald Anthony, Terri, Edward, Rick and Lisa; and several great-grandchildren. Young is also survived by her sister June Watt and brother Paul Watt, both of Pleasantville, New Jersey.

Funeral services were held on April 17 at Gower Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., with Reverend Susan Treanor officiating. Young will be entombed at Prospect Cemetery in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania.
