Eric J. Vest

Eric J. Vest passed away on July 1 at the age of 49. He was born in Salida on Dec. 26, 1971.

According to his family, Vest had a great sense of humor and was an intelligent man. He loved Leadville, camping, fishing, climbing mountains, reading, 1980s music and the Denver Broncos.

“Rest easy and know you are well loved by family and friends and we will all meet again some day,” his family said. “We love you.”

Vest was preceded in death by his father Victor Vest Jr.; his maternal grandparents Byron and Tressie Brown; his paternal grandparents Harold and Beulah “Boots” Kohmetscher; his uncle Tony Brown; his aunt and uncle Barbara and Mike McCoy and their son Jason; and his cousin Jamie Austin.

Vest is survived by his loving family, including his mother Chris (Brown) Vest; his brothers Byron Vest and Victor (Judy) Vest III; his niece Reyana (Stephen) Geck and their children Amelia and Josiah; his aunts Debbie (Donald) Miller, and Valerie (James) Austin and their daughters Amy and Lisa; his cousins Tony (Angie) Christopher and their children Graysen, Cash and Colton; his step-nephew Zack Wright; his grandmother Joyce Brown; and the love of his life, Vicki Hernandez.

A memorial service will be held in Vest’s honor for family and friends at a date yet to be determined.
