Helen Louise Henning

Helen Louise Henning was born on April 26, 1929, in Vian, Oklahoma to Helen Louise (Moss) Young and Austin Z. Young Sr., and passed away on July 22 in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

She was married to Byron E. Henning on December 1948 in Fort Smith. He preceded her in death on April 30, 1999.

According to her family, Henning was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She had a beautiful voice and sang in many choirs and singing conventions. Henning was a lovely, pleasant person and was slow to anger. She worked hard and helped people when she could. She loved her Lord and trusted him in all circumstances, her family said. Henning maintained a love of peanut butter her whole life. Her family said her smiles, laughter, advice, hugs and patience will be missed.

Henning is survived by daughter Byranna L. Wesson of Vian, Oklahoma; sons Roger E. Henning of Vian and Stanley D. Henning of Leadville; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and one on the way; sisters Winnie L. Stovall of Vian and Sharlie A. Ferguson of Elk Grove, California; sister-in-law Peggy L. Young of Vian; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Henning was preceded in death by her husband; parents; daughter Barbara M. McGinn; sister Helen A. Young; and brothers Robert R. Young, Harry K. Young, Bill Tom Young and Austin Z. Young.

Henning’s honorary pallbearers were Charles Danny Henning, Wanda Henning, Cody Turley, Tyler Henning, Katrina Scott, Mariah McGee, Amy Battocletti and Sandy Brockman.

A graveside service for Henning was held on July 27 at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Vian under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
