On behalf of the Lake County Community Fund Board of Directors, we want our entire community to know how deeply we appreciate the tremendous outpouring of support on Colorado Gives Day for our Lake County nonprofit organizations.
For the past two years, the Lake County Community Fund has served as the regional champion for Colorado Gives Day. During the 2020 and 2021 campaigns, 650 donors contributed $130,551 to Lake County nonprofit organizations. Funding raised through Colorado Gives Day will provide additional programming and assets to support critical services in Lake County.
One of the few positives revealed during the COVID-19 pandemic is the critical role that Lake County nonprofits serve in our community. These organizations have provided essential services such as family support, housing and utility assistance, after-school programing, health care, early childhood education, food security, land, water and wildlife conservation and environmental causes, cultural and historic preservation, recreation and much more.
In addition to supporting hundreds of our residents, the work conducted over the past two years by Lake County nonprofits and the Unmet Needs Committee has received regional and national attention. In a research article published on rental assistance and eviction diversion, The Urban Institute featured Lake County as one of four communities nationwide for providing housing assistance and insights for both future practice and policy.
We live in a very special place and time, and we are grateful for our many donors and for this exceptional community.
Best wishes for a safe, healthy and happy holiday season.
