In response to the letter from Josh Homer (Aug. 25), I submit the following: Mr. Homer’s main topic addresses the concern that some folks are offending others while using a variety of noise-polluting vehicles. And although this is a noteworthy complaint, it is not the overriding issue here. Embedded in the subject matter is that there is a lack of law enforcement of rules and regulations. And although this is an obvious target for our frustrations, finger-pointing does not resolve our noise pollution dilemma. Please consider that our police and sheriff departments are experiencing an ongoing struggle to fill vacant positions. And why? Because of a critical lack of affordable housing in Lake County. Lots of blame to spread around, but try not to ignore the “elephant in the room.”
