On Saturday, Oct. 23, the Lake County Middle School cross-country team raced in their final meet of the season at the Colorado Middle School State Championships in Denver. It was a warm day along the flat and dusty Front Range course.
The middle school boys team raced first against a large field of runners. Jude Peters raced to a 59th place finish in 15 minutes and 18 seconds, coming in as the first runner for the team. He was followed closely by Noah Millard, who finished in 71st with a time of 15:37. Rounding out the team were Wilson Anderson in 96th with a time of 16:12, Ben Woodcock in 99th with a time of 16:15 and Itai Sheleg in 116th with a time of 17:13.
The Lake County Middle School girls team raced later in the afternoon in hot, dry conditions. Layla Horning raced to an 87th place finish in 17:52, finishing as the first Lake County runner. Aimee Lenhard was right behind her, finishing in 90th with a time of 17:56. Tilly Kirr also placed in the top 100 of the race, finishing in 95th with a time of 18:22. Rounding out the girls team were Isabella Speckman in 110th with a time of 19:30, Finnley Stanek in 117th with a time of 20:10 and Chloe Moffitt in 122nd with a time of 20:23.
